The death of chivalry

Two quick observations:

i) Chivalry is a Christian tradition. When Christianity dies, chivalry dies.

ii) If you think this life is all you've got, and it's a choice between your life and the next guy's, then it's not surprising that self-preservation trumps self-sacrifice.

  2. All-in-all, the article was confusing.

    The interesting bits included the survey of some historical bits where it was "women and children last". However, the point of the article was pretty fuzzy, especially toward the end.

    I mean, that's when the author should have been bringing his points together and presenting them as a coherent position. Instead, we're left with a confused and conflicted position, the central point of which seems to be "chivalry is dead in today's present culture because it has no moral basis, but I feel like it is ok anyway".
